Swiss Chard and Toasted Walnut Pizza -

When swiss chard is in season make this pizza! It tastes so fresh and delicious! The little crunch from the walnuts adds such a nice surprise texture!

  • 1 Basic Pizza Dough
  • 1 Tsp. Vegetable oil
  • 1 Large Red Onion, peeled and sliced
  • 10 Stalks Swiss Chard, leaves and stems separated and both chopped roughly
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1 Jalapeño, diced (Optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. Balsamic Vinegar
  • 15 Toasted Walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 10 Cherry Tomatoes, halved


  1. In a skillet over medium high heat, sauté the onions with the vegetable oil for about 2 minutes. Add in the jalapeño (if using) as well as the chopped swiss chard stems and the ¼ cup water. Sauté for 5 minutes more until the stems are tender. Add in the swiss chard leaves with the salt and pepper and sauté for 2 minutes more. Finally add in the balsamic vinegar and mix well. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 325 F (162 C).
  3. Prepare the basic pizza dough as instructed. Roll it out onto a rectangular baking sheet lined with parchment paper and stretch out with your fingers until the dough stretches out across the entire baking sheet.
  4. Place the cooked swiss chard evenly over the top of the dough. Top with the cherry tomato halves and chopped walnuts.
  5. Bake at 325 for 35 minutes.
