Smokey Maple Swiss Chard and Tofu -

In the summer, I am always looking for great swiss chard recipes, as my garden is very generous with this delicious veggie! Here, I pair it with tofu and cook it in a smoky maple glaze. Delicious served over a bed of rice or as a meal on its own.

  • 1 Tsp. Sesame Oil
  • 1 block Firm Tofu
  • 1 Red Onion, peeled and sliced
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, sliced thinly
  • 1 Fresh Chili Pepper, minced (Optional)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 8 Large Stalks Swiss Chard, stems and leaves separated and chopped
  • 1/3 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 Tsp. Smoked Paprika


  1. First Press the tofu. Cut into cubes.
  2. In a skillet over medium high heat add the sesame oil and allow to heat up. Add in your tofu cubes with the onion, garlic and minced chili pepper. Sauté for about 8 minutes until tofu is slightly browned on all sides.
  3. Sprinkle a large pinch of salt and pepper on the tofu and mix well. Add in the chopped swiss chard stems and maple syrup. Cook for 2 minutes more.
  4. Reduce heat to medium low and add in the swiss chard leaves. Saute for about 2 minutes until the leaves wilt. Serve.
