Homemade Almond Halva -

Halva is a Middle Eastern Dessert delicacy! Making your own is actually a lot easier than you may imagine! In this version I added almonds and a touch of rose water, as that has always been my favorite halva flavorings. I suggest you use a candy thermometer for this to ensure precision.

  • 2 cups Tahini
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Almonds
  • 1 Tbsp. Rose Water

  1. Line the inside a rectangular loaf pan with plastic wrap and set aside.
  2. Place the tahini in a large pot over medium low heat. Heat up just until slightly warm to the touch. Make sure to whisk well so there are no lumps. Add the rosewater and almonds.
  3. On the side, in a medium saucepan over medium high heat, combine the sugar and water. Allow to cook until a candy thermometer reads 230 F (110 C) – this should take about 10 minutes. Immediately remove from heat and slowly pour the sugar syrup into the warm tahini while whisking well.
  4. Pour the tahini sugar mixture into the lined loaf pan. Place in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours or overnight. When ready to serve, remove from pan and pull off the plastic wrap.
