Ginger Poached Pears -

Pears and ginger love each other’s company in this beautiful poached treat! This can be served for an elegant dessert or brunch. If you would like to prepare in advance you can store the pears in an airtight container with the poaching liquid for about a week. • 4 Pears
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 4 cups Water
  • ½ Lemon, sliced
  • 1 3 inch piece ginger, thinly sliced

  1. In a large pot over medium heat add the water and sugar and bring to a gentle boil.
  2. In the meantime, cut the pears in half and use a melon baller to remove the core. Try to keep the pears intact as it is a much prettier presentation that way.
  3. Place the pears in the gently boiling water and sugar mixture, along with the lemon slices and ginger.
  4. Reduce heat to simmer, and cook for about 35 minutes until the pears are tender. Take pears out of liquid and serve. You can drizzle a little of the poaching liquid on the pears as you serve.
