Basic Pizza Dough -

I have made many different pizza doughs in my life. Although this recipe may seem slightly unconventional, I really find it is the best dough for pizza. It comes together really easily and rolls out easily and when it is cooked it is so crisp and light.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 Tsp. Dry Active Yeast
  • 1 Tsp. Sugar
  • 1 Tsp. salt
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 Tbsp. Shortening
  • 1 Cup Warm Water

Preparation

  1. Combine the yeast with the sugar and salt and ½ cup of the flour. Mix in the shortening. Then mix in the water and mix well.
  2. Add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time until a soft dough forms. Let stand covered with a damp cloth for about 30-45 minutes.
