Decadently Healthy Chocolate Banana Bread -

This Banana Bread tastes so incredibly decadent that you will never believe it is actually pretty healthy! With whole wheat flour, lots of fresh banana and flax seeds you won’t feel guilty serving chocolate cake for breakfast!

  • 2 Cups Mashed Bananas (about 4 large)
  • 1/2 Cup Unsweetened Apple Sauce
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp. Ground Flax Seeds
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla
  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 3 Tbsp. Cocoa Powder
  • 2 Tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1/4 Tsp. salt
  • 1/4 Cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 Cup Dried Cranberries (Optional)


  1. Preheat oven to 350 F (175 C)
  2. In a bowl, beat together the bananas, yogurt, brown sugar, vegetable oil, ground flax seeds and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flours, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir until combined. Do not over mix. Mix in the cranberries and chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased and parchment lined loaf pan (or use a silicone pan and you will not have to grease or line it).
  6. Bake at 350 for 60 – 90 minutes (until cake tester comes out clean).
