Vegan Custard Berry Tart
Whether you are vegan or not, you will absolutely love this tart! It is an incredibly delicious and creamy dessert; all your friends will be so impressed!
Caramel Apple Dutch Baby
A Dutch Baby is a classic German pancake / popover served for breakfast. In this version, I have a little cheat to make it super simple to prepare – pancake mix! I do recommend serving immediately after this dish comes out of the oven, otherwise the caramel will harden and get stuck to the bottom of your skillet (it won’t come out nicely). If you want to slice a few pieces after the caramel has hardened, just pop it back in the oven for 5 minutes to make it easy to slice once again!
Pear and Ginger Galette
This is just a spectacular dessert to serve at the end of a sit down dinner party! You can poach the pears up to a week in advance and then assemble the tart the day of your party.
Pecan Pumpkin Spice Bread
This is truly scrumptious bread for breakfast, an afternoon tea or even a dessert. Freshly roasted squash in combination with the molasses and spices make this bread a special treat!
Homemade Almond Halva
Halva is a Middle Eastern Dessert delicacy! Making your own is actually a lot easier than you may imagine! In this version I added almonds and a touch of rose water, as that has always been my favorite halva flavorings. I suggest you use a candy thermometer for this to ensure precision.
Dark Chocolate Almond Treats
These little dessert treats are so special! The crunchy almonds underneath the smooth dark chocolate is just divine! When baking with nuts its always important to use good quality nuts and toast them to bring out their flavor. I suggest using a chocolate mold which can be purchased at a baking supply store to make the pretty flower shapes. You can also use a silicone ice cube tray. If you want to make these in advance, pop them out of the molds once set and place in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. This recipe will give you about 36 chocolate treats.
Chocolate Coconut Bars
These are just crazy delicious. As you bite into that dark chocolate exterior you get the creamy coconut interior...mmmm! They will also keep really well in the freezer in an airtight container for about 6 months. So make a big batch and pop a few out when you have company! This recipe will give you 12 large or 20 small treats.
David’s “Dream” Brownies
These brownies were created for my cousin David, who lives in England. When he was coming to visit us in Canada, I asked him to dream up anything in the world and I would make it for him (yes that is how much I wanted him to come!). What did he ask for? A peanut butter, chocolate fudge, Oreo and marshmallow brownie! So here it is!
Decadently Healthy Chocolate Banana Bread
This Banana Bread tastes so incredibly decadent that you will never believe it is actually pretty healthy! With whole wheat flour, lots of fresh banana and flax seeds you won’t feel guilty serving chocolate cake for breakfast!
Vegan Chocolate Raspberry Mousse Pie
Using coconut cream here makes such a divine mousse, topped with beautiful raspberries, how can you ask for a better dessert! You can keep the mousse in the refrigerator for up to 1 week in an airtight container before assembling this pie.
Stacked Apple Pie with Orange Marmalade Glaze
This dessert sounds very fancy but it is really simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. It is stacked full of crisp apples with a dusting of cinnamon and sugar glazed with orange marmalade. A beautiful dessert to bring to a party or to serve friends for a casual get together!
Deconstructed Apple-Berry Strudel
This desert is a cross between a pie and a strudel. One day I opened up a package of filo dough and realized that all the sheets were torn. Instead of getting upset that I couldn’t use it for a traditional strudel I came up with this recipe! You could make this strudel a few hours in advance. Just before serving put it back in the oven for 5 minutes.
These turnovers are absolutely delicious especially when hot out of the oven. You can prepare them in advance; keep frozen in an airtight container for up to 6 months. When you want to serve them, allow to defrost on the counter for at least 30 minutes. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes at 375 to heat up. This recipe makes 24 turnovers.
Hadji Bada - Passover Almond Cookies
These cookies are traditionally made by Iraqi Jews for the Passover Holiday. Instead of flour they are made with nuts. Although they are intended for Passover, they are delicious and can be enjoyed any night of the year!
Crunchy Chocolate Nut Clusters
These clusters are absolutely delicious! They have the perfect crispiness from the nuts and cereal as well as chewy tartness from the cranberries. Best of all, no one will believe how simple they were to make!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Icing
This is a deliciously simple icing that can be swirled onto cupcakes, spread on a layer cake or even between 2 chocolate chip cookies for a decadent sandwich cookie. Depending on what you are using this icing for, you can adjust the amount of water needed to make it thinner or thicker. I find this amount is perfect for piping on cupcakes.
mmmmmmmm....what can I say, homemade chocolate truflles!
Sweet and Salty Chocolate Pretzel Clusters
I just love the combination of sweet and salty, if you do too, then you need to try these!
Apple Cherry Strudel
Strudels are a great desert since they are light, crispy and full of fruit goodness! This one is made with filo dough which can be found in the freezer section of most regular grocery stores. When working with filo you should defrost it in the refrigerator overnight.
Cake Happy Birthday Plate
When you want to write something on a cake such as, “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations”, frosting is usually the weapon of choice. However, not all cakes lend themselves to the use of frosting, such as a simple fruit tart. This trick will allow you to write on any desert!
