Cardamom Scented Basmati Rice -

The cardamom adds a flowery aroma to the rice which makes it feel special! If you are not used to the taste of cardamom, start off with half a teaspoon, but if you really want the cardamom taste to shine use the full teaspoon.

  • 1 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Onion, peeled and sliced
  • 2 Cups Basmati Rice
  • 10 Cardamom Pods, crushed (about 1 tsp.)
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 4 Cups Water


  1. Rinse and soak the basmati rice.
  2. In a small pot over medium high heat sauté the onion in the vegetable oil for about 1 minute.
  3. Add the cardamom and salt and mix well.
  4. Add the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat to simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
