Barbecue Sauce Marinated Veggie Hot Dogs! -

I do really like veggie dog ... really I do! But I am the first to admit that when you place them on a barbecue, they are not as appealing as they could be. This method of marinating store bought veggie dogs in a barbecue glaze was inspired by my friend Aliza. It really brings them to a new level. They become sticky and slightly crisp on the outside – it’s a whole new world for veggie dogs!

  • 4 Veggie Hot Dogs
  • 1/4 Cup Ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Soya Sauce
  • 1 Garlic Clove, minced
  • 1 Chili, minced (Optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. Vegetable oil


  1. Score a few small slits in each veggie dog and place them in a large resealable plastic bag. Top with all remaining ingredients and gently massage with your hands to ensure that all the hotdogs are covered in this sauce. Place in refrigerator for at least 1 hour (or even overnight).
  2. Turn on the barbecue to medium high flame and place the hotdogs directly on a well oiled grill for about 2 minutes per side. Serve in buns with all the fixings!
